The Conference Center at Mercer on the campus of Mercer County Community College in West Windsor will be the new location for Rutgers’ Executive Master in Public Administration program offered by Rutgers-Camden Department of Public Policy and Administration.
The program will begin in January. Designed for working professionals, the EMPA program is taught in hybrid format with both classroom-based and online instruction. All face-to-face classes meet on Saturday mornings.
“Moving the EMPA to the Conference Center at Mercer offers an accessible, central location for individuals who need to balance work and personal responsibilities while earning a degree that will advance their careers,” said Angie McGuire, associate director of the Center for Executive Leadership in Government.
The EMPA is aimed at mid-to upper-level managers in the public and nonprofit sectors who have five or more years of administrative or managerial experience. The program uses the cohort model, which is limited to 20 persons.
Degree requirements can be completed in two years with one-week summer residencies. Up to nine credits may be awarded for professional experience.
The EMPA program is offered jointly by the Department of Public Policy and Administration at Rutgers-Camden and CELG.
Rutgers and Mercer County Community College also recently entered into a partnership to offer Rutgers’ degree-completion programs on the MCCC campus beginning in this fall.
