If you are looking for independence over leadership in a career that compensates you for your writing ability, then Princeton Public Library has an event for you, too, with journalist Terri Huggins presenting “Getting Started as a Paid Freelance Writer” on Monday, January 30, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the PPL newsroom.
Huggins covers lifestyle, wellness, and parenting, as well as race and culture, in publications such as Good Housekeeping, Essence, Woman’s Day, the Washington Post, and more. In addition to her work as a writer, she is a public speaker, researcher, fitness instructor, and self-described “story strategist.”
Per the PPL website, Huggins will present on the different “types of freelance writing, setting up portfolios, and creating writing samples, as well as getting your first writing assignment and making money as a freelancer.”
