NJBIA Offers Primer on Preventing Harassment at Work

As the previous years have resulted in a social reckoning on issues in the workplace, NJBIA HR is hosting a live program, “Workplace Harassment Prevention,” on Tuesday, January 31, from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Holiday Inn in Clark at 36 Valley Road.

The speaker, Michael A. Shadiack, Esq., is the chair of Connell Foley’s Labor and Employment Practice Group and a partner at the law firm’s Roseland-based office. Since 2016, Shadiack has been consecutively recognized in “Best Lawyers in America,” a peer-reviewed survey acknowledging the country’s top law practitioners.

Shadiack is a graduate of Seton Hall University who has more than two decades of legal experience, which includes his knowledge in HR counseling. He is prepared to advise guests on “how to design and implement an effective training program” for any professional setting.

The presentation will cover the who, what, where, when, and how of the training process, determining the responsibilities of both the employer and employee in each scenario — thus, Shadiack will convey the factors that would create the ideal scenario of equal respect, according to the NJBIA event page.

“Every business needs to create and maintain a respectful workplace free of harassment. When considering best practices for anti-harassment measures, the focus should be on prevention,” NJBIA’s website continues. “In addition to maintaining anti-harassment policies and complaint procedures, businesses must provide workplace harassment prevention training to all levels of employees.”

The in-person event begins with breakfast, networking, and registration at 8 a.m., with the program following a half-hour later.
