The NJ Conference for Women, a program of the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Women in Business Alliance, is the largest one-day gathering of professional women in the State of New Jersey. Now in its 12th year, the conference brings together nearly 700 dynamic business leaders from a variety of business sectors for a day of learning, networking, and growth.

The conference includes a welcome keynote by company culture expert Betsy Allen Manning; a choice of seven different breakout sessions; and closing remarks by Emmy Award winning Food Network host Valerie Bertinelli as well as networking time and a lunch.

In an effort to expand the mission of the Women in Business Alliance and reach the community’s next generation of business leaders, the NJCFW has announced a Student Volunteer Program. Through this program, high school seniors will have the opportunity to experience the conference, spend a day networking with regional business leaders, and gain valuable volunteer experience.

Following an application process, eight to ten high school seniors will spend Friday, October 11, assisting staff at the conference, set to be held at the Hyatt Regency Princeton.

The conference will provide written documentation of hours served and a letter of recommendation where appropriate.

A pre-conference prep session will be held via Zoom for student volunteers and parents/guardians the week before the conference.

Potential duties may include:

• Assisting with breakout sessions, including welcoming attendees and introducing the speaker.

• Assisting with the on-site registration process

• Acting as ambassadors at the conference help desk

• Assisting conference attendees with wayfinding

• Assisting with pre-conference set up and post-conference breakdown

• Other age- and ability-appropriate duties as assigned

Students must currently be in their senior year of high school and live or attend school within the chamber’s footprint. Volunteers must be available from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the day of the event and must provide their own transportation.

Student volunteers will be expected to dress professionally. Suggested skills include comfort with public speaking, a strong work ethic, ability to interact comfortably with local business leaders, an eagerness to network and engage, and the ability to lift up to 30 pounds.

Applications must be submitted by Friday, September 13. Selected student volunteers will be notified on or before Friday, September 20. For more information or to apply, visit www.njconferenceforwomen.com/student-volunteer-program.
