Governor Christie Whitman will launch the Innovation

Garden State’s web page on Friday, October 27

The Innovation Garden State campaign is sponsored by Prosperity New

Jersey, a public-private partnership aimed at bringing technology

companies and workers to the state.

“Innovationgarden.org was designed as a resource for members of

the technology community,” says Stephen R. Sasala, president and

CEO of Prosperity New Jersey, noting that companies in and outside

of New Jersey can exchange information, build partnerships, and access

the resources to grow their businesses in the state.

Press releases on technology companies and a stock ticker devoted

to the state’s technology companies are provided by TechSourceNJ.com,

part of the New Jersey Technology Council. Other features include

databases for venture capital opportunities, technology jobs, and

requests for proposals, both private and public. Pages of the website

that offer customized information include one on relocation services

and an “ask the tech expert” page.

Supporting the Innovation Garden State initiative is the Edison

Partnership,

a task force of business, academic, and government leaders that aims

to retain, expand, and attract high technology businesses and enhance

the image of New Jersey as a global high technology center. Co-chairs

are Princeton University’s president Harold Shapiro; Caren Franzini,

head of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority; and Thomas

M. Uhlman, president of the New Ventures Group at Lucent Technologies.

Among the 12 members are James Carnes, CEO of the Sarnoff Corporation;

Maxine Ballen, president of the New Jersey Technology Council; and

Stephen A. Karnas of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
