The New Hope-Solebury & Lambertville Community Choir is recruiting new members.

Vocal music-making with the non-audition choir begins on Tuesday evening, September 2, and area singers of all shapes, sizes, and skill levels are invited to join in the fun.

NHSLCC is a true community choir, made up of singers from the New Hope, Lambertville, Stockton, etc. area, with a wide range of musical abilities — from beginner to somewhat accomplished. Unlike most choirs, NHSLCC is organized so that members can choose to participate for the full or partial seasons. The full season is divided into multiple music blocs; each bloc is a little different and each includes a wide variety of music.

The 2025-26 season calls for three singing blocs: The first bloc runs from September 2 to November 18; and the second runs from December 2 through March 31. The third bloc, which runs from April 7 through June 16, includes a collaboration piece with male a cappella group Cordus Mundi to help celebrate Cordus’ 20th anniversary.

All rehearsals and mini-concerts are held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Solebury on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m., and the first session will be held on September 2, the day after Labor Day.

“We hope folks will consider becoming a part of the Community Choir at whatever level of commitment they are comfortable making,” says artistic director/founder Rick Rosen. “We’ve developed a very cool community, the singing is spirited, and truly no blame/no fault, the music is good, and a splendid time is had by one and all.”

For questions or more information, NHSLCC can be contacted at 650-219-2748, or online at rbrtawk@comcast.net. All singers are welcome.

Singers of all ages have an opportunity in September to join choirs directed by Tom T. Shelton Jr., a nationally known composer and director, at Princeton United Methodist Church. A Ewing resident and professor at Westminster Choir College of Rider University, he directs the Semi-Tones ensemble of Princeton Girlchoir, and is Director of Music at PrincetonUMC.

Children, youth, and adults of any faith are invited to join the choirs at Princeton United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Nassau Street and Vandeventer Avenue in Princeton. Adults and youth sing at 10 a.m. worship on Sunday mornings and practice on Sundays at 11:45 a.m. Children from ages pre-K to 6th grade sing in worship monthly, present a musical in the spring, and sing at special services throughout the year. They rehearse on Wednesday afternoons. Participation in all the choirs is free.

With a bachelor of music degree and a master’s degree in choral conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Shelton has published more than 60 compositions. At Westminster he teaches classes in conducting, sacred music, and music education. A past national president of the American Choral Directors Association, he has conducted festival and honor choirs in 20 states and abroad.

Princeton UMC is a diverse faith community. Rev. Jenny Smith Walz is the lead pastor. For information, contact 609-924-2613 or PrincetonUMC.org or email Tom@PrincetonUMC.org.
