Given that most of us would like to turn the page on 2009 as quickly as possible, we think U.S. 1’s 2010 wall calendar delivered with this issue will be one of our most popular publications. If you do not receive one we have extras available at our office. (And yes, some calendars have a few pages improperly trimmed — you can fix it by snipping a sliver of paper off the edge. Perhaps because of the economic climate, this year’s Helping Hands issue seems more relevant than ever. In addition to the cover story on the people who volunteer to help disadvantaged jobseekers look their best for interviews, we also have reports on some favorite charities of editors Jamie Saxon (see page 19) and Scott Morgan and his writers (page 7).
And our editor, Richard K. Rein, was struck by Novo Nordisk’s mentoring efforts at Trenton Central High School. In an October 28 column Rein noted the disparity of opportunities between Trenton High and Princeton High. Turns out something is being done about that, as Rein discovered by reading Michele Alperin’s account beginning on page 5.
