After nearly 13 years hosting free weekly job seeking and networking gatherings at the Princeton Public Library, the Professional Service Group (PSG) of Mercer County is making a move.
Beginning this Friday, May 9, meetings on the second and fourth Fridays of each month will be held at the Plainsboro Public Library, 9 Van Doren Street, Plainsboro, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Meetings on alternate Fridays will continue to take place at Princeton Public Library from 10 a.m. to noon.
The PSG groups were initially developed and supported by the NJ Labor and Workforce Development (LWD) Office from 2008 to 2012. Each LWD office had a PSG group. Once desupported by LWD in mid-2012, the Mercer County PSG group landed at the Princeton Public Library in June 2012 holding weekly group meetings and programs each Friday morning for anyone in job search. Our community-based group and programs are always free to attend and open to all.
The PSG groups were initially developed and supported by the NJ Labor and Workforce Development (LWD) Office from 2008 to 2012. Each LWD office had a PSG group. Support from LWD ended in mid-2012, and the PSG found a new home in Princeton. The programs are always free and open to all.
The speaker on May 9 will be David Schuchman, executive chair of the PSG of Mercer County, on “Uncovering the Hidden Job Market.” As promotional materials for the meeting explain: “This presentation informs attendees that up to 70% of open positions are not actively published (as per several sources), and why employers often use non-published ways of finding professional talent. We will discuss ways to begin to overcome these challenges in order to be exposed to more professional opportunities.”
