Princeton Area Community Foundation in Princeton has appointed two new members to its board of trustees.
The board voted to name Aamir A. Rehman, Ed.D., of the Princeton Junction section of West Windsor, and Lucy I. Vandenberg, MSW, of Trenton, to three-year terms.
“Aamir and Lucy will be outstanding trustees,” said Board Chair Marygrace Billek. “They will bring additional leadership, investing and grantmaking expertise to our Board, as we continue to carry out our mission of promoting philanthropy to advance the wellbeing of our communities forever.”
Rehman is an associate professor at Columbia University’s Business School and chair of Innate Capital Partners, a private investment office. He also serves as a senior fellow at Columbia’s Richman Center for Business, Law, and Public Policy.
He is a trustee of Mercer County Community College, Rutgers Preparatory School and the Medina Health Center, and previously served as board chair of the Mercer County Community College Foundation. Rehman has also worked as a consultant to the World Bank Group and as a senior advisor to the United Nations Development Programme.
Vandenberg is executive director of the Schumann Fund for New Jersey, where she oversees $1.7 million in annual grantmaking to 50 nonprofits, focusing on children and families. Her previous roles include senior program officer at The Fund for New Jersey, executive director of PlanSmart NJ, executive director of the New Jersey Council on Affordable Housing and senior policy advisor in the governor’s office.
She is a former trustee and executive committee member of the Council of New Jersey Grantmakers, a former member of the Trenton Board of Education and former chair of the Trenton Green Team.
“We want to welcome Aamir and Lucy to our Board,” said Mathieu Nelessen, the foundation’s president and CEO. “They both care deeply about our communities, and they will be fantastic additions to our governing body.”
The Princeton Area Community Foundation, founded in 1991, manages more than 440 charitable funds and has awarded more than $262 million in grants. In 2025, the organization awarded more than $21.8 million in grants to nonprofits across Mercer County and central New Jersey.
