Foreign-born individuals are invited to apply for the 2019 New Jersey Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards. The awards program features Rutgers Chancellor Christopher Molloy and is co-sponsored by the Middlesex County Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The New Jersey Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards honor immigrants for their achievements in growth, advocacy, and innovation, and name the 2019 Immigrant Entrepreneur of the Year. They will be presented on Tuesday, October 8, at 8:30 a.m. at the Rutgers University Visitors Center, 100 Stephen Road in Piscataway.

Past winners include Kamal Bathla of Trenton-based Maestro Technologies (2018); Mario Casabona, CEO of Tech Launch (2014); and Jose “Pepe” Garcia of Maverick Building Services (2016). Foreign-born businesspeople have created more than one in three new businesses in recent years, ranking New Jersey behind only California, New York, and Florida for the number of companies started by immigrants. New Jersey companies started by immigrants generate an annual business income of $6.2 billion.

The New Jersey Immigrant Entrepreneur Awards is a coalition of New Jersey groups, including regional and bi-national chambers of commerce, immigrant advocacy groups, and other community organizations.
