People talk about college a lot these days, but the discussion is often based on anecdote, speculation, and the words of politicians looking to get elected first and figure out how to make good on their promises after.
At the Princeton Mercer Chamber of Commerce’s upcoming meeting on Thursday, September 5, 2019, Kathryn A. Foster, president of The College of New Jersey and a long-time leader in higher education, (U.S. 1, August 22, 2018) will unravel some of the mystery and address some of the misconceptions about higher education in New Jersey and beyond.

A native of New Jersey, Kathryn A. (Kate) Foster is an educator with 30 years of experience as faculty member and academic administrator. President of The College of New Jersey since 2018, she previously served as president of the University of Maine at Farmington from 2012 through 2018, and in many ranks and roles at the State University of New York at Buffalo since 1993.
An expert in regional planning and governance, she has been a Visiting Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. Foster earned a bachelor’s in geography from The Johns Hopkins University, a master’s in city planning from Berkeley, and a doctorate in public and international affairs from Princeton.
