If you think that blockchain is the next big thing, then you will not be surprised to learn that a blockchain meetup group has formed in Princeton and that it has already held three meetings since February. The next is Tuesday, July 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. in the second floor conference room of Hill Wallack, the law firm at 21 Roszel Road.
The presentation on “Revolutionizing the Gaming Industry with Blockchain,” will be led by Pu Shi, CEO of One Game (one.game). A serial entrepreneur as well as an investor and adviser in multiple blockchain projects, Shi has worked as an independent game developer for the past 10 years. He is the co-founder and former CTO of Carloha.com and a former Google and Microsoft senior software engineer. He holds an M.S. in computer science from Emory University.
Blockchain Princeton was organized by Himanshu Bhatia, a Princeton-based entrepreneur and healthcare and marketing professional. At its page at www.meetup.com, Blockchain Princeton describes itself as a group where “enthusiasts to in exploring this fascinating technology,” which has been described as a means of creating a shared and continually reconciled database, containing records that are public and easily verifiable. With no centralized version of this information existing for a hacker to corrupt and hosted by millions of computers simultaneously, the blockchain data is accessible to anyone on the Internet. Bitcoin, for example, operates on the blockchain model.
Blockchain Princeton says it invites “entrepreneurs and industry experts to share their stories. Our aim is to create an engaging platform for everyone, including starters or the more advanced.” Previous meetings on have addressed healthcare, crypto-exchange and crypto-currencies, and finance.
