Goodwill Home Medical Equipment merged with Your ReSource and accepts donations of home medical equipment and unopened medical supplies. Donors receive a tax receipt for the items donated.
Accepted items include wheelchairs, scooters (battery operated), power wheelchairs (battery operated), seat cushions, portable ramps, hospital beds, vinyl covered mattresses, bedrails, Hoyer lifts and slings, trapeze bars, sliding boards, recliners and lift chairs, canes, walkers, crutches, bath chairs, commodes, safety rails, hearing devices, and more.
Items NOT accepted include prescription medications, oxygen or helium tanks, machinery that contains mercury, and expired supplies.
The items are refurbished and cleaned as needed. The store is open to individuals, caregivers, family members, neighbors, health care professionals, school teachers, church members, or social workers looking for medical and rehabilitation equipment for a reasonable price. Barbour is partnering with One Warm Coat to host its annual coat drive. Barbour will donate a sweater or shirt for every coat turned in at a Barbour retail store through Tuesday, December 31. Donations may be made at Barbour, 67 Palmer Square West, in Princeton. Call 609-454-3010. Catholic Charities will benefit.
Paper Mill Playhouse will partner with Jersey Cares as a collection site for its winter coat drive. New and gently used coats can be dropped off during the run of “Oliver!” through Tuesday, December 29. The theater will also collect non-perishable food items for area food pantries for its “Food, Glorious Food” Drive. Donors will be rewarded with a Paper Mill Playhouse 75th Anniversary scratch-off game ticket for a chance to win prizes. Items will be collected in the main lobby at Paper Mill Playhouse, 22 Brookside Drive in Millburn.
For the Young
PrincetonKIDS wants to recognize and celebrate the best teachers in the Greater Princeton area. Students from Pre-K to 12th grade living in Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, and Bucks counties are invited to submit an essay describing their favorite teacher.
Five essays will be chosen and the teacher featured in each winning essay will receive a $100 gift card. Selected excerpts will be published in our the spring guide and each winning essayist will receive a treat for his or her entire homeroom class.

Art Grant
The Artists-in-Education Consortium announces the 41st annual Artists-in-Education residency grant program. Any New Jersey public, private, charter or parochial school serving grades Pre-K to 12 is eligible to apply for funding to bring an artist-in-residence to their school. Grants range from $6,000 to $10,000 and support residencies for 20 days or more.
The deadline for applications is Monday, March 3. Technical assistance workshops are offered in December and January to assist schools in preparing applications. Visit www.njaie.org.
College Planning
United Way of Greater Mercer County will be hosting a series of free college financial aid information sessions in Mercer County. The sessions will kick off the free FAFSA service that is a part of the United Financial Empowerment Partnership to help students and families apply for college financial aid for free. The information sessions are an opportunity to see how you can help a student on the path to higher education, come ask questions, and learn what is required to complete college financial aid, how you submit the application, and the free services UWGMC offers. Dog Days of Lambertville
Hurricane Sandy refugees are among the 70 dogs posing for 2014 Lambertville’s 2014 dog calendar. A unique holiday gift for the canine lovers in your life, the dog calendar once again benefits four local animal charities. It features 70 dogs with backgrounds and stories to tell about being a Hurricane Sandy refugee.

Sports for Kids
Yardville CYO offers Pee Wee Basketball for 4 and 5-year-olds in January. Games and practices will be held Saturday mornings at Yardville Elementary School.
There is also an intermediate level basketball season beginning in January for ages 6 and 7. Games and practices will be held Saturday afternoons.
