The ancient and traditional art of icon making is the focus of the exhibition and conference at the Princeton Theological Seminary on Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13. The event celebrates the 25th anniversary of the Prosopon School of Iconology, a school that provides workshops by master icon makers throughout the United States and around the world.

Prosopon — taking its name from a Greek word that suggests a connection between face or person to a spiritual dimension — conducts an annual summer residency in Princeton and is connected to a new icon painting program in Princeton. The weekend begins with an icon exhibition and free reception on Friday, April 12, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Erdman Art Gallery, 20 Library Place.

The Saturday, April 13, conference starts at 8:30 a.m. in Stuart Hall and includes presentations by master iconographers and sessions that deal with theological issues. The registration fee is $45. The event concludes at 3:30 p.m. with a free and open to the public lecture by master iconographer, school founder, and past Soviet Union “enemy of the people,” Vladislav Andrejev. For registration and information, go to www.prosoponschool.org or call 609-921-2430.
