The search is underway for a new executive director of American Repertory Ballet. Christine Chen, who has held the position for four years, announced January 9 that she would be stepping down at the end of the month to take a position at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

“Working with a terrific team of trustees, colleagues, and staff, we have achieved more than I could have imagined four years ago when I began here,” said Chen in a press release. “I am proud of the great strides we have made to stabilize our financial position, to build the staff, and, most of all, to expand our artistic repertory and educational programming. ARB is well-positioned for the future and I have enjoyed my time with the organization greatly.”

As ARB’s board searches for a new director, Lisa Beth Vettoso, the director of educational programming, will serve as acting director. Prior to joining ARB Vettoso had worked at Carnegie Hall, the State Theater, Arts Horizons, and the NYC Arts in Education Roundtable.

ARB’s planned performances this spring include “Our Town,” “Romeo and Juliet,” and the world premiere of Stravinsky’s “Firebird.” The organization’s annual gala takes place Saturday, March 15, at Crossroads Theater in New Brunswick.
