If an accounting firm such as Withum Smith + Brown can have an active social media presence, why can’t your company? The accountants have a regularly updated Twitter feed, a Facebook page, and even a Youtube channel, which features a video of the staff, in santa hats, singing “Carol of the Bells” in a goofy a capella remix (3,281 views as of this writing).
The brains behind this campaign is marketing expert Sarah Cirelli. She knows how to attract followers. The social media strategist spends her days at accounting firm Withum Smith + Brown organizing various digital marketing campaigns, and she will make her advice available to the business community at an upcoming workshop.
The NJ CAMA presentation will be held Thursday, January 23, at 6 p.m. at D&R Greenway, 1 Preservation Place, with networking and refreshments. Cirelli will offer new examples for allocating digital media dollars, describe challenges to prepare for and real success stories for inspiration, and explain where to focus energy and budgets in 2014 and how much and what to give up from traditional media. The cost is $20 in advance and $25 at the door. For more information, visit www.njcama.org.
Cirelli’s campaign to humanize the accounting profession with cute viral videos has earned her a place in Accounting Today’s list of the “Top 100 Most Influential People in the Accounting Profession.” She also has helped the firm’s clients with their own marketing efforts, at their request, on multiple occasions.
Cirelli sits on the Social Media Committee of the Monmouth Ocean Development Council, the Digital Media Committee of the Association of Accounting Marketing, and is the president of the Jersey Shore Public Relations and Advertising Association. She has a degree in marketing from Johnson & Wales University. And, according to her Twitter bio, she also teaches Zumba classes and gets “no sleep.”
