Mission to Europe

In addition to hosting a number of useful stateside events, EACCNJ is sponsoring a Getting to Know Europe Trade Mission that starts Wednesday, February 26, and continues into March. The group will head to Brussels to spend a couple of days meeting with various officials, and learning about the regulations; this trip will focus a bit on transatlantic chemical commerce.

After time in Belgium, the delegation will head to Alicante, Spain, which is the headquarters for design, trademarks, and patents for the EU. “There used to be 28 offices for this kind of work. Now there’s one system to deal with all of it. We’ll really get to share and reapply knowledge here,” Sailer says.

This trip is the second of its kind hosted by EACCNJ. “The trip offers access to important officials and ideas,” says Sailer. She adds that there is grant money — though limited — to help defray costs for those who want to attend. She said some participants chose to not take the funding, and others have offered to host meals once in Europe. Grant recipients will agree to make an effort to increase transatlantic trade, and to report on what they learn at upcoming EACCNJ functions and other events.
