The sixth Annual Harvest & Music Festival is coming to Princeton on Sunday, October 12, thanks to Witherspoon Grill. Admission to the event is free, and a portion of the proceeds from food and activity sales will benefit the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (T.A.S.K.).

The family-friendly event will feature live music from Franklin & Alison, Pi Fight, Joe Vadala, and Grupo Cristiano plus delicious bites from the Witherspoon Grill, Tico’s Eatery & Juice Bar, and Button’s Creperie. The festival begins at 11:30 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. at Hinds Community Plaza, 57 Witherspoon Street (adjacent to the Princeton Public Library).

“Our 2013 Pie-Eating Contest champ, Will Millender, will be back to defend his title in the all-new Corn Cob Eating Contest, sponsored by Tico’s Eatery & Juice Bar,” said event coordinator and Witherspoon Grill Assistant General Manager Laura Estey. “We are looking for contestants to enter and see if they can challenge Will! There will also be the 4th Annual Pie Eating Contest for kids 15 and under. You can sign up on the website or on the day of the Festival — 100 percent of the entrance fees go to T.A.S.K.”

To date the Annual Harvest & Music Festival has raised more than $13,500 and collected more than 700 pounds of food for T.A.S.K. The public may make food, hygiene, and monetary donations at the festival, at the Witherspoon Grill and Blue Point Grill now through Friday, October 24, and at the Princeton Public Library from Monday, October 6, through Thursday, October 16.

“We wanted to bring a fun celebration of the fall harvest season to the town, while at the same time using the event to give back to the community by collecting food donations and raising funds for those in need, especially given the hardships that so many have faced these past years. It is also a fun-filled kick off to our Annual Turkey Drive,” said Jack Morrison, president of JM Group (Witherspoon Grill, Blue Point Grill, and Nassau Street Seafood).

T.A.S.K. is in need of the following non-perishable items (no glass, please): canned spaghetti sauce, instant oatmeal packs, Chef Boyardee microwave cans, coffee, tea, dry pasta, granola bars, peanut butter, jelly, salad dressing, individual servings of Jell-O or pudding that do not require refrigeration, and juice boxes. Hygiene items include toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant, razors, shampoo, and hand and body lotion. Large, plastic storage boxes for food deliveries also are appreciated.

In addition to the JM Group of restaurants, the following sponsors make the event possible: NJM Insurance, Mercedes-Benz of Princeton, Callaway Henderson Sotheby’s International Realty, NHKT Urban Renewal, Nassau Inn and Yankee Doodle Tap Room, Carl S. DeFazio Private Investigations, and Borden Perlman Salisbury & Kelly.
