Princeton Radiology’s Monroe office now includes the newest clinical MRI system available: the Wide Bore 3.0T MRI. It’s the first to be installed in central New Jersey.
The Wide Bore compliments Princeton Radiology’s existing technology at its full-service diagnostic imaging center located at 9 Centre Drive in Monroe. It offers distinct advantages.
“First, from the patient’s perspective, it’s roomier,” said Dr. Jonathan A. Lebowitz. “The bore, or compartment the patient is scanned in, is 12.4 inches larger around than conventional machines. It’s also shorter and more compact. All this helps eliminate the confining feeling some patients had experienced.”
Just how big is Wide Bore? Dr. Lebowitz recently scanned a 500-pound patient with ease and comfort. He notes Wide Bore is even roomier than Open MRI.
From a clinical perspective, the Wide Bore 3.0T MRI offers double the magnet strength for incredibly accurate and faster exams. It offers better results in a shorter amount of time.
“MRI technology uses magnetic fields, so there’s no radiation,” Dr. Lebowitz added. “It’s safe, even at this strong and effective level.”
And while the Wide Bore is roomy, its improved imaging capabilities make MRI possible for a broader range of patients. Every MRI test, from high-level brain and breast scans to small body parts such as fingers and toes, is handled in higher resolution in less time.
“Another benefit is to young patients,” Dr. Lebowitz explained. “The Wide Bore has unique pediatric applications because the parent can now lie in the scanner with their child during the scan since the bore can fit both of them together.
