Doctors Robert C. Brolin and Wai Yip Chau of NJ Bariatrics invite you to join them at the annual Walk From Obesity this Saturday, September 24 in Trenton.

The walk joins individuals affected by obesity, loved ones, friends, colleagues, healthcare professionals, and many others together to raise national awareness of the disease of obesity. Funds raised support initiatives focusing on prevention, education, research, treatment, and advocacy.

Money raised by walkers through support from friends, family, and co-workers, as well as through corporate contributions and sponsorships, benefits two non-profit organizations, the ASMBS Foundation and the Obesity Action Coalition (OAC).

The ASMBS Foundation raises funds to support obesity research and increase professional and public awareness of bariatric surgery and its role in treating the devastating disease of morbid obesity. The OAC was created to give a voice to those affected by obesity by representing individuals through education, advocacy, and support.

You, too, can be a part of the fight against obesity. Visit www.walkfromobesity.com and click on “find an event,” “New Jersey,” and “Trenton” to register. Walkers will enjoy a scenic 1.5 mile course along the waterfront in Trenton. Special guest Bryson Jenkins, an R&B singer/songwriter, New Jersey resident and post-op bariatric surgery patient, will be on hand.

The cost to walk is just $25 online or $35 on the day of the event, including a walk t-shirt. Same-day registration begins at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 10 a.m. at South River Walk Park, next to the Trenton Thunder baseball stadium. Reserved parking is on the left as you enter Waterfront Park from Cass Street; the park is on top of the Route 29 tunnel.
