A graduate of Princeton University, Scott McVay served as a Special Agent with the Counter Intelligence Corps in Berlin for three years. He is the author of ‘Surprise Encounters with Artists and Scientists, Whales and Other Living Things’ (Wild River Books) and a collection of 99 poems, ‘Whales Sing and Other Exuberances.’ He was the founding executive director of the Robert Sterling Clark and the Geraldine R. Dodge Foundations.

He notes: “The attached poem, Franklin Parker Preserve, I read on my 90th birthday on June 1, 2023 at the opening of the New Jersey Conservation celebration at The Mansion at Natirar in Peapack & Gladstone to mark the 20th anniversary of the landmark acquisition of creating the Franklin Parker Preserve in the Pinelands.”
