Literacy New Jersey Mercer Programs offers a Tutor Training Workshop for volunteer tutors to help adults improve their English literacy skills. Work one-to-one or in small groups to teach adults who are learning to speak, read, and write English.
The workshop will take place online on Zoom, Wednesdays, September 6, 13, 20, and 27 and October 4 and 11, from 6 to 8 p.m. Participants are expected to attend all training sessions and complete some independent online assignments. Previous teaching experience is not necessary. The training will provide you with all the essential skills and support to become an effective tutor. After the training, you’ll be ready to start meeting with your students in-person or online once a week.
