Auditions Open for the Roxey Ballet’s “Cinderella”

Roxey Ballet is hosting open auditions for “Cinderella” for students ages 4 and up on Saturday, January 21. Audition times are noon, ages 4 to 6; 12:45 p.m., ages 7 to 10; 1:30 p.m., ages 11 to 13; and 2:15 p.m., ages 14 and up. Auditioners must be enrolled in at least one ballet class either at the Mill Ballet School or another studio. The audition fee is $38, and the participation fee is $295. Register online before Friday, January 20. Rehearsals for the show take place Saturday afternoons beginning January 28. Performances are Saturday, April 29, and Friday through Sunday, May 5 through 7.

Call for Volunteers

New Jersey Blood Services (NJBS), a division of New York Blood Center, which provides blood for local patients, is looking for a few good volunteers. The blood drive volunteer is an integral member of the team whose tasks include assisting donors with registration and/or at the refreshment area.

No medical background necessary. Volunteers should be outgoing to provide friendly customer service, be able to perform tasks as needed and must provide proof of COVID Vaccination prior to volunteering. Must have transportation. All training is provided including additional precautions for the safety of our team and blood donors.

Join Literacy New Jersey Mercer as a volunteer tutor and help adults improve their English literacy skills. Work one-to-one or in small groups to teach adults who are learning to speak, read, and write English.

The Tutor Training Workshop will take place online on Zoom, Wednesdays, January 25, February 1, 8, 15, 22, and March 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Participants are expected to attend all training sessions and complete some independent online assignments. Previous teaching experience not necessary. Our training will provide you with all the essential skills and support to become an effective tutor. After the training, you’ll be ready to start meeting with your students online or in-person once a week.
