Women In Development-Mercer, the female-led networking and nonprofit group based in Ewing, has shifted to provide statewide services with a corresponding name change to “Women In Development-New Jersey,” or WID-NJ.
As WID-NJ states in a press release, the group has supported women in their fundraising and nonprofit careers with “monthly informational roundtables, networking events, opportunities for mentorship, a platform for nonprofit job postings, and a strong network of support” since 2008.
Prior to the pandemic, the group just held in-person meetings in Mercer County, but as a “wider pool of professionals” joined via Zoom, those behind WID-NJ felt compelled to establish a new name to better serve its audiences across the state.
“We are excited to be Women in Development New Jersey!” Cassie Jaeger, the president of WID-NJ, says in a quote. “The board will continue to expand our membership base and increase the support we provide to our fellow female nonprofit and fundraising professionals across the entire state.”
To celebrate the change, WID-NJ will hold its open house on March 29 at the Princeton Friends School, 470 Quaker Road, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The event is open to everyone, but registration is required in advance at the WID-NJ website, widnewjersey.org.
Pop-up roundtable discussions on topics such as resume writing (attendees must bring their own to participate), how to maximize their LinkedIn profile, improving interviewing skills, and more are set to be included in the open house programming. Attendees are free to engage in these opportunities for “career exploration and success” together regardless of their membership status with WID-NJ.
All WID-NJ members also have the chance to get a free professional headshot by Rosana Vilaro of the Princeton-based photography and videography company Shotwell Productions.
