Venture Winners
Of the nine companies from Princeton that entered the New Jersey Venture
Fair on Monday, March 20, two won prizes: Nex-i.com and IPG Direct.
The fair was held at the Liberty Science Center in Jersey City and
was sponsored by the New Jersey Technology Council (www.njtc.org).
Nex-i.com, the networking company at Research Park, received the Most
Likely to Go Public Award. It has plug-in networks for data backup
and storage, remote network monitoring, security, server management,
E-commerce support, PC software distribution (www.nex-i.com , U.S.
1, August 18, 1999).
Internet Publishing Group (IPG Direct) in Pennington, was a last-minute
entry, says Marjorie Adis, marketing director. The vertical market
news service founded by former Dow Jones employees won Best Management
Team. Currently it has services for Asian assets and commercial real
estate (www.ipgdirect.com ,U.S. 1, July 7, 1999) and on April 17 it
will launch www.istartupsdirect.com , a matchmaking service for
venture capitalists and young companies.
Neovision Hypersystems, a New York-based firm, won Most Likely to
Succeed, and Applion Networks, which has already raised $10 million
in angel money, won People’s Choice and Most Innovative Service. With
65 employees in Piscataway and New Delhi, Applion has technology that
can control the path of data packets. RecruitSource, which recently
moved from Belle Mead to Edison, won Best Marketing and Sales Strategy.
EBizAutomation, a seven employee firm in East Brunswick, took the
best B to B E-commerce award. CertifiedMail.com of Springfield had
Best Internet Technology.
