The Pros & Cons of Trans-Atlantic Trade

Share post:

Are there opportunities in the European marketplace for New Jersey businesses? What are the regulations that might impact trans-Atlantic commerce?

These issues will be addressed by the European Union-New Jersey Business Forum on trans-Atlantic trade, being hosted by the Rutgers Center for European Studies (CES) on Thursday, June 14, at 8:30 a.m. at the John J. Heldrich Center for Workforce Development, 30 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick.

The event is free, but registration is required. Go to www.surveymonkey.com/s/rutgersbf5. For more information, E-mail european@rci.rutgers.edu.

The forum is the last in a series of events looking to raise awareness in the state’s business community of the European Union and of the potential for stronger trade between New Jersey and the EU. Previous forums covered alternative energy, financial services, life sciences, and technology and innovation.

The forum will feature panel discussions with state business leaders who participated in a recent trade mission to the European Union.

They will talk about opportunities in the European marketplace and recent regulatory developments that affect trans-Atlantic commerce.

Anne-Marie Slaughter, Princeton University professor of politics and international affairs, and former director of policy planning for the U.S. State Department, will be the keynote speaker.

The CES has led a coalition of partners — including the N.J. Business Action Center; the European-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey; the New Jersey Technology Council; and Rutgers’ Heldrich Center — Wto organize a series of forums emphasizing key industries.

They are funded by a Getting to Know Europe grant from the Delegation of the European Union to the United States in Washington, D.C.
