Ronson Sells Aviation Business

Ronson Corporation has sold its aviation business to Colorado-based Ross Aviation LLC, for $10.7 million.

With the sale, Ross takes on roughly $340,000 in debts incurred by Ronson, which operated at Trenton-Mercer Airport for years. Ronson Corp., most famous as the maker of Zippo Lighters, had serviced aircraft at the airport since 1961, before coming face to face with credit problems. As a result, Ronson Aviation was put on the block last April.

Though Trenton-Mercer Airport has had no commercial airline carriers service it since last year. Ronson continued servicing the airport. According to Wolcott Blair, general manager of Ronson Aviation, the deal that began last year is not supposed to stop that service. The venture will continue to operate as Ronson Aviation for the foreseeable future, and Blair will remain its manager, according to Greg Ross, who is in charge of acquisitions at Ross Aviation.
