Michael K. Decker has been named president and chief executive officer of Eden Autism Services, replacing Peter Bell, who stepped down in April. Decker was previously COO of AHRC NYC, a group that serves 15,000 people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities with the support of 4,500 employees and an annual budget of more than $280 million.
“While Eden’s mission of more than 40 years remains to improve the lives of children, adults, and families with autism, the ways in which we carry out this mission have and will continue to evolve,” said Patrick Tadie, chairman of the board of Eden. “The board of trustees was impressed by Michael’s breadth of experience and is united in its belief in his ability to lead Eden into the future.”
Before joining AHRC NYC, Decker worked at Liberty ARC in Amsterdam, New York, which also serves people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities. Both AHRC NYC and Liberty have programs and services for people with autism.
“It’s a privilege to be asked to lead an organization that is making such an important difference in their community while also having a great reputation nationally,” Decker says.
Decker has an MBA in health care management from Union Graduate College and a bachelor’s in business administration from the State University of New York at Plattsburg. He will begin his leadership at Eden on or before December 11.

Courtney Eidel has been made chief compliance officer at Community Options, Inc., a nonprofit group that provides employment and training for adults and children with disabilities and operates more than 500 small homes.
“With the unpredictability of the Affordable Care Act, Community Options is taking a proactive role to ensure that we are ahead of the curve with compliance for those we support with autism, intellectual and other developmental disabilities,” said CEO Robert Stack. “I am pleased to appoint Courtney to this prestigious post.”
Eidel received an MBA in 2001 and has worked with Community Options for eight years. “Ensuring quality is critical to providing the best services possible for those we support,” she said.
