A new restaurant will open this fall in the space formerly occupied by Lahiere’s restaurant, which went out of business in 2010.

Agricola Eatery at 11 Witherspoon Street will open in late fall, according to a July 18 blog post by owner Jim Nawn on the restaurant’s website at agricolaeatery.com. Nawn is the former owner of more than 30 Panera Bread restaurants.

Nawn says the cuisine at Agricola is “rustic American, full of flavor, and features seasonal ingredients from our own Great Road Farm and other regional growers and producers.”

“Agricola is a community eatery where people meet to laugh and linger, savor and celebrate,” says Nawn. “We see ourselves as a gathering place, a warm and welcoming destination that adds flavor and character to the neighborhood and to the lives of everyone who comes in.”

Lahiere’s, which opened in 1919, was closed by owner Joe Christen, saying his family lacked the desire to continue the business.
