Nassau Street: Wall Street
Nassau Street in downtown Princeton is looking more
like Wall Street every day. Charles Schwab, the discount brokerage,
has moved from the Princeton University-owned Helm Building at 330
Alexander to a newly refurbished and much more visible building at
132 Nassau Street, owned by Jay Biggins of Coleman Co. Scott
Jensen is the branch manager. Phone and fax remain the same.
Meanwhile Nassau Partners Limited is seeking a use variance for its
property at 182 Nassau Street to permit general office use of the
entire ground floor “which may include, but not be limited to
financial or brokerage offices.” Some of that space had been used
for a retail store. A hearing will be held Thursday, October 28, before
the Princeton Borough Zoning Board.
Not counting the brokerages within commercial banks, there are three
other discount brokerages on Nassau Street: Olde Discount Brokers,
Waterhouse Securities, Quick & Reilly, and two full-service brokers,
Merrill Lynch and Tucker Anthony.
