Applications opened Wednesday, January 1, for two grant programs accessible through Mercer County’s Small Business Grant Portal. The Revitalize & Grow Grant and Business Builder Rebates Grant programs are funded by $1 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, to provide direct aid to Mercer County small businesses in 2025 and 2026.
Under ARPA, recipients may use Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (“SLFRF”) to aid small businesses and microenterprises, “including rehabilitation of commercial properties; storefront and façade improvements; technical assistance, business incubators, and grants for start-ups or expansion costs for small business; and programs or services to support micro-businesses”.
Revitalize and Grow Grant Program. The Revitalize & Grow Grant provides grants to eligible Mercer County-based businesses for signage and façade improvements that will set them up for success going forward, improve traffic for businesses, and support increased tourism.
When submitting for a grant, the services must be priced via at least two quotes. One hundred percent of the funds will be provided up front to eligible applicants proposing eligible work and with a permit on-hand (as applicable) — and after an agreement has been signed by both parties. The awardee must demonstrate completion of the project via submittal of photographs, program compliance forms, and paid invoices.
Business Builder Rebate Grant Program. The Business Builder Rebate program provide rebates to eligible Mercer County-based businesses for items that will help them to start up and refresh on business basic that will set them up for success going forward, such as accountant fees, office supplies, software, and some website development.
When submitting for a rebate, the services must be complete and a final paid invoice provided. Rebate cap amounts are available online; the total service invoice may be more than the maximum rebate amount.
