Jughandle Closure Set For August 6

The state Department of Transportation has set Monday, August 6, as the date for the closure of jughandles on Route 1 at Washington Road and Harrison Street.

Changes to the intersections will take place at the end of July and signs alerting drivers of the traffic pattern changes will be installed in the middle of the month, according to Mark Rollo, a program manager with the state Department of Transportation. Rollo discussed area projects at a recent meeting of the Central Jersey Transportation Forum.

The pilot program calls for the temporary restriction of left turns and U-turns at Washington Road to northbound traffic. At Harrison Street, left turns and U-turns would be restricted to traffic in the northbound direction.
