With more and more people affected by the unemployment crisis, the Princeton Community Church last year began conducting twice-monthly support groups to help people deal with the emotions that come with the loss of their jobs.
Now PCC is stepping up its efforts by hosting an Employment Outreach Event on Saturday, January 21, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 2300 Pennington Road (Route 31) in Pennington.
This free event is being billed as an “upbeat, informative conference that aims to help jobseekers stay motivated in their search, offers interview tips and money management strategies, and provides latest information on networking and social media,” according to a press release.
The conference features the keynote discussion “Seven Ways to Stay Motivated” by Sandy Schussel, a Princeton-based motivational speaker and consultant, and additional career-building, skills-training, and getting-employed conference presentation topics that include:
“Should I just start my own business?” by Schussel.
“LinkedIn Training: Improve your profile on the world’s largest business network,” by Barrie Byron.
“Technology, social networking, and business trends impact on skill set needs,” by Jim Klinck.
“Managing your money in challenging times,” by Martin Hopkins.
“I am not your friend: Interviewing communication skills from HR perspective,” by Marianne Grady.
“How many chances do you get to make a first impression?” by Jack Levitt.
The event will also feature lunch, entertainment, skits, live music, and door prizes. The event begins at 8 a.m. with registration, coffee, doughnuts, and networking.
