Church & Dwight Plans Move To Ewing

Household chemical manufacturer Church & Dwight is one step closer to its planned consolidation to Charles Ewing Boulevard in Ewing Township. The company submitted preliminary drawings for a planned 250,000-square-foot building at the Princeton South Corporate Center, near Interstate 95 and Pennington Road.

Plans for the three-story complex are under review by the township, but nothing official has been announced. The township, however, first breathed word of the potential move in May, saying a deal was close.

Calls and E-mails to Church & Dwight regarding what would become of its four buildings in the event of a move were not answered. The company’s world headquarters are located at 469 North Harrison Street. It also occupies office spaces at 100 and 101 Thanet Circle and at 5 Crescent Avenue. The company employs about 670 in the area, and it is unclear whether all will be relocated to Ewing.

That the company plans to stay in New Jersey is good news, considering that Church & Dwight closed its New Brunswick detergent manufacturing plant in 2009 and moved those operations to Pennsylvania. That move took 300 workers from the area.
