Energy policy is increasingly tied to economic competitiveness.
The Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce will host its May Membership Luncheon on Thursday, May 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., featuring a discussion on how energy and infrastructure decisions are shaping business growth in New Jersey.
The event takes place at Princeton Marriott at Forrestal, 100 College Road East, Plainsboro.
The program, titled “Energy, Infrastructure & Economic Growth: New Jersey’s Competitive Edge,” will examine how policies related to power generation, transmission, and grid reliability affect investment, job creation, and long-term economic development in the region.
Speaker Erick A. Ford, president of the New Jersey Energy Policy Coalition, will address the role of energy strategy in supporting industries such as advanced manufacturing and digital infrastructure, where demand for reliable and affordable power continues to increase.
The discussion will also highlight programs offered by utilities and energy providers that help businesses manage costs, improve efficiency, and enhance reliability.
Organizers say workforce development will be a key focus, as demand for skilled trades grows alongside infrastructure expansion. National projections estimate that as many as 500,000 additional electricians will be needed by 2030.
The event will also include recognition of Linda Soto as the Chamber’s May Champion for Business. Register at princetonmercerchamber.org
