If your New Jersey-based business is at least 50 percent woman-owned, no more than two years old, and has a business plan that you would like to hold up to public scrutiny, then take note: submissions are due by Friday, March 9, for the fifth annual S.E.E.D Business Plan Competition, sponsored by the central Jersey chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO-CJ).

S.E.E.D. stands for Supporting Emerging Entrepreneurs’ Development and is intended to enable established businesses in NAWBO to help new businesses grow. The competition takes place at the annual Women’s Business Conference & S.E.E.D. Competition at the Hilton Garden Inn in Edison on Thursday, April 19, from 5 to 9 p.m. Applications and details are available online at www.nawbocentraljersey.org.

Three finalists will be selected to present their business plans on April 19 to a panel of judges and an audience of their peers. One winner will receive a prize package of products and services worth more than $15,000 to help her develop her business.

Olive Lynch, president of the Plainfield-based Green Waste Technologies Inc. and a 2011 S.E.E.D. winner, said “the S.E.E.D. competition offers a wonderful opportunity to make your business pitch, get constructive feedback, and network with a great group of women. I found it a supportive and instructive experience.”
