Anthony Terracciano, chairman of the board of Sallie Mae, will speak at the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce Monthly Membership Luncheon meeting on Thursday, March 5, at 11:30 a.m. at the Marriott Princeton Hotel and Conference Center. Anthony Terracciano brings substantial experience and a higher stock rating to Sallie Mae (SLM Corporation), a student loan company and the nation’s leading provider of funding for college programs. Terriacciano began his financial career as the President and CEO of Mellon Bank in Pittsburgh, and as chairman and CEO of First Fidelity Bank he led the turnaround of the 19th largest U.S. bank. The sale of First Fidelity to First Union in 1995 was the largest bank deal in U.S. history up to that time.
He joined the Board of District-based Riggs National in 2004 when it was under federal investigation for money laundering, where he worked closely with the O.C.C. and the Fed to gain control of remedial work and helped in the effort to sell Riggs to PNC Bank.
