IP attorney and metal sculptor Stephen Slusher will host a copyright workshop geared toward artists on Saturday, April 17, at 10 a.m. at ArtWorks in Trenton. Cost: $10. Visit www.artworkstrenton.org.
Slusher, who serves as chief legal counsel for Palatin Technologies, a Cranbury-based biotech that develops treatments for sexual dysfunction and other conditions, will explain the importance of copyright for artists who want to develop their businesses.
He will discuss registering a copyright, what constitutes copyright infringement and fair use, and the difference between ownership of the copyright and ownership of the work of art. He will also discuss the moral rights of artists when it comes to their work.
Slusher is a former partner in boutique intellectual property firm Peacock Myers, and is a metal sculptor and furniture maker. He earned his J.D. from the University of New Mexico in 1977.
