Mercer County and the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission are accepting applications for Fiscal Year 2025’s Local Arts Programs (LAP) Grant Program and History Re-Grant Program. This year’s applications will be accepted through a newly launched online grant portal.
Now through July 1, Mercer County art and history-based non-profit organizations have the opportunity to apply for funding through these grant programs administered by the Mercer County Division of Culture & Heritage. All qualifying applications will be reviewed by an independent grant review panel composed of professionals in both the history and art fields. Awarded organizations will be notified by the end of 2024.
“As Mercer County residents, we all benefit from the flourishing culture and educational opportunities fostered by nonprofit organizations focused on art and history,” said Mercer County Executive Dan Benson. “These grants are an important way for county government to support these organizations which enrich our community.”
The LAP Grant Program is open to all Mercer County-based non-profit organizations — certified as 501(c) (3) or 501(c) (4) agencies by the IRS — that have been in operation and have been providing arts programming/services for at least two years. This state block-grant program, funded in large part by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, provides essential support for the local arts community. The grants are intended to promote the growth and public accessibility of high quality, diverse, community arts organizations and projects.
Mercer County’s annual History Regrant Program is offered through a partnership between the New Jersey Historical Commission’s County History Partnership Program and the Mercer County Cultural and Heritage Commission. History Re-Grants are available to Mercer County-based organizations that support and provide historical activities and history programming.
“The Mercer County Division of Culture & Heritage has supported local art and history nonprofits for years with the awarded funds granted through these opportunities,” said division chief Idamis P. Margicin. “This year, with our new virtual grant portal, we hope to continue that trend, providing awards to the many dedicated organizations that keep both the art and history communities of Mercer County alive.”
