AARP Offers Free Tax Prep at Mercer County Sites

The Mercer County AARP Tax-Aide program, which provides free federal and state income tax preparation, offers its service in various Mercer County municipalities through mid-April. The income tax filing deadline is Wednesday, April 15.

The program serves all ages and primarily focuses on low- and moderate-income taxpayers. IRS-trained volunteers will prepare and file federal and New Jersey tax returns at no cost.

Princeton: Assistance is available on Mondays, Fridays, and Saturdays beginning February 2.

Monday sessions will be held at Princeton Public Library from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Appointments are required by calling 609-924-9529 extension 1220.

Friday sessions will be held at the Suzanne Patterson Building, behind Monument Hall, 45 Stockton Street, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. To make the required appointment, call 609-751-9699 or go to www.cmaprinceton.org and search for “AARP Free Tax.”

Saturday sessions will be held at Nassau Presbyterian Church at 9 a.m. and noon. This is a walk-in location with no appointment necessary. Spanish-speaking translators will be available.

Hamilton: Tax preparation is available at Mercer County Connection, Hamilton Square Shopping Center, 957 Route 33, Hamilton. Appointments are available on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be no appointments on Good Friday, April 3.

Services are also available on Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hamilton Senior Center, 409 Cypress Lane.

West Windsor: The income tax assistance program will be available by appointment only at the Senior Center, 271 Clarksville Road, on Tuesdays from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. through April 14. Call 609-799-9068 to schedule an appointment.

Plainsboro: At Plainsboro Library, 9 Van Doren Street, services are offered in Hindi and Mandarin and Cantonese Chinese on Mondays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Lawrence: Services at Lawrence Library, 2751 Brunswick Avenue, are available Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Lawrence Senior Center at 30 East Darrah Lane offers services Tuesdays, 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Ewing: Both branches of the Mercer County Library System are hosting free tax preparation. Sessions at the Hollowbrook branch, 320 Hollowbrook Road, are available Mondays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.; and sessions at the Ewing branch, 61 Scotch Road, are Wednesdays from noon to 5 p.m.

Hopewell: The Hopewell Library, 245 Pennington Titusville Road, offers appointments on Tuesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Robbinsville: The Robbinsville Library, 42 Robbinsville Allentown Road, hosts sessions on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
