Who says you have to look scary on Halloween? More than 30 singles (and a few couples!) attended Princeton Elite Club’s “Sexy Black Halloween Soiree” on Friday, October 30, at Marsha Brown restaurant in New Hope. Club founder Kari Adams (“If Darwin Were Alive and Single, He’d Be in This Club,” U.S. 1, August 19) hosted the affair from the cozy third floor loft (the former choir loft) at the restaurant, which is housed in a restored 125-year-old stone church at 15 South Main Street.

Nobody went hungry, thanks to the Cajun-inspired food — including fried crawfish risotto, duck meatballs, tuna sashimi, coconut shrimp, baked potato croquettes, beef crostini, lollipop lamb shop, crab cakes, and sesame chicken.

Guests traveled from as far away as Clifton, NJ, and Mechanicsburg, PA — and in our opinion boasted some of the most diverse professions we’ve ever seen at a “crash” — from lactation consultant to veterinarian to organic chemist to podiatrist/surgeon (the latter, Kim Grum, took home the prize for sexiest black outfit). There were also the requisite online entrepreneurs: Steven Hudes is the founder of happypregnancy.com, a Princeton-based maternity clothing website, and Adrienne Ragland, who by day works in the global voice products division of Verizon Wireless, is developing her own online women’s magazine, lovelylifemagazine.com, set to launch in January, 2010.

Adams says she’s already planning her next color-themed event, a “Red Hot New Year’s Eve.” She encourages interested singles to stay tuned to www.princetoneliteclub.com for details.

P.S. The two Junior Leaguers in attendance, Debby Lang of Prudential Fox Roach and Molly Hoke of Pfizer, reminded us that 2010 is showhouse year. Look for the Junior League of Greater Princeton’s showhouse this spring.
