It was an illustrious venue for an illustrious occasion. More than 150 guests gathered at Jasna Polana to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Caliper Corporation, the Princeton-based human resources and talent management firm at 506 Carnegie Center. Many of the guests were illustrious too, many of them longtime clients in business and sports — including James David Power, founder of J.D. Power and Associates; Gail Smith, former general manager of General Motors; Oppenheimer & Co. partners Jack Nash and Leon Levy; and Harry Weltman and Princeton-based venture capitalist Gordon Gund, past owners of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Karen Wenderoff, assistant vice president of development at the City College of New York, was on hand to announce a scholarship in Greenberg’s name: a half-tuition award every year to a student at Greenberg’s alma mater who displays academic achievement and motivation to succeed.
After receiving accolades at the podium in the ballroom by all these luminaries, including James David Power, who endorsed Caliper in 1962 and helped Caliper launch much of its early success, Caliper founder and CEO Herb Greenberg, concluded the evening in saying, “I’m really knocked out by all of you. What’s exciting to me is the thrill I feel about so many of you who are going to be with me on our next journey, because this is just the beginning. My dream for Caliper is to continue making an important contribution to making this cock-eyed world just a little bit better. So I look forward to building on what we’ve done to build the next decade, and the next century.”
