Tony Award-winning Broadway stars Santino Fontana (“Tootsie” and “Rodgers + Hammerstein’s Cinderella”) and Debbie Gravitte (“Jerome Robbins’ Broadway”) headline the concert reading presentation of “The Big Time,” a new Broadway-bound musical comedy by the creator of the shows “Sister Act” and “Xanadu,” Douglas Carter Beane.

A Princeton Symphony Orchestra and McCarter Theater collaboration, the Cold War-era story with score and lyrics by Douglas J. Cohen is the second installment of the PSO’s new Princeton Pops Series. The bare stage, book-in-hand presentation includes five additional Broadway veterans and New York stage conductor Fred Lassen leading the orchestra.

The Big Time, McCarter Theater, 91 University Place, Princeton. Friday, January 31, 8 p.m. $25 to $50. www.princetonsymphony.org.
