Call for Plays
The Lawrence Library is accepting play submissions for its annual PlayFest on Saturday, April 27, 2019. Plays should be 10 minutes in length, with a maximum of five actors. Playwrights should be of high school age or older and reside or work in the Delaware Valley. Submissions are limited to a maximum of two per playwright. Playwrights, amateur or professional, should submit their plays by Friday, December 21.
Scripts can be emailed as a Word document attachment to akerr@mcl.org or may be brought to the Lawrence Library reference desk. Please include two title pages: one with the play title only and the other with play title and name, address, phone, and email address of the playwright. Call Ann Kerr, 609-989-6922.
Premiere Stages, the professional theater company in residence at Kean University, is now accepting submissions for the 15th annual Premiere Play Festival. Premiere will accept unproduced scripts through Saturday, December 15, and select four finalists by early March, 2019. Guidelines are available online at www.premierestagesatkean.com/play-festival.
Grief Support Group
H.O.P.E., a non-profit non-sectarian provider of grief support groups for surviving spouses, will host 10-week fall sessions beginning the first week of October in 15 chapters throughout the southern New Jersey area, including in Hamilton and West Windsor. First Aid Training
Jacqueline Beinenstock, director of the psychiatric acute care unit at Carrier Clinic, will present Mental Health First Aid — five steps to saving a person in crisis — on Saturday, October 20, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Carrier Clinic’s Belle Mead campus. Volunteer
LifeTies will host information sessions for its volunteer program Tuesday, October 9, at 12:30 p.m. and Wednesday, October 17, at 5:30 p.m. LifeTies, located at 1901 North Olden Avenue, Suite 44 in Ewing, is a supportive network of professional staff and trained volunteers dedicated to creating programs for youth to overcome the effects of abuse, neglect or homelessness.
