In an effort to make essential data more accessible to the public, Princeton University graduate students Lauren Padilla, Dan Swain, and Elena Krieger have organized Public Issue Index Day (Pi Day), Wednesday, March 14, at 5:30 p.m., in the Friend Center Room 113, on the Princeton campus.

The event is a data-thon to build an online knowledge-base for public issues. According to the organizers the purpose of Pi Day is to help put data back into public dialogue, to discuss issues without rhetoric, and to make essential data available to the public. The Princeton community is urged to attend; specifically, those who want their research to reach a broader audience, want to strengthen their understanding of complex issues, are looking to meet others with similar social issue interests, want to log Campus Community Challenge hours; or are interested in contributing to a crowd-sourced web-application. Pizza, pie, and beverages will be served. Registration requested but not required.
