HomeFront’s sixth annual “Week of Hope” will take place February 13 through 19, offering a week of meaningful service opportunities, art, discussion, and educational forums to raise awareness about their work helping local families break the cycle of poverty.
“We are so excited to welcome current and future members of the HomeFront family to learn about our work during our annual Week of Hope,” said HomeFront CEO Sarah Steward. “We know that our community cares deeply for families that have found themselves in difficult times. We find so much hope in the volunteers and supporters that give so generously of their time and energy to support our neighbors during this week and throughout the year.”
The Lawrence-based HomeFront, founded in 1991, has always depended on volunteers of all ages and from all walks of life. Last year, HomeFront relied on over 3,600 volunteers to support their more than 35 life changing programs and services. Community members can help in a variety of ways including tutoring, their Donation Center, employment, and adult education programs, as well as its food pantries and Diaper Resource Center, FreeStore and their therapeutic ArtSpace program.
“Joining in our Week of Hope provides a way for community members to welcome the new year through service. We encourage our neighbors to join us, learn something new, and feel the positivity that comes from helping a local family,” said HomeFront’s director of development and community engagement Meghan Cubano.
This year’s “Week of Hope” will include in-person opportunities to help HomeFront’s staff deliver meals to families living at local area motels, sort clothes and stock shelves at HomeFront’s FreeStore in Trenton, and work in HomeFront’s Diaper Resource Center.
There will also be several opportunities to learn more about HomeFront’s work, the issues surrounding poverty and homelessness, and discussion on what the future holds for the agency. A lunch and learn event will take place with HomeFront’s Chief Executive Officer, Sarah Steward, and a Paint and Sip will be held at the HomeFront Treasure Trove in West Broad Street in Hopewell on Valentine’s night as a fun way to celebrate holiday with loved ones. Tours of their newly expanded Lawrenceville Campus will take place throughout the week as well.
