Auditions

Acting Naturally is seeking teens ages 13 and over for its production of “Into the Woods Jr.” Auditions take place Saturdays, December 9 and 16, at 2 p.m., and Wednesday, December 13, at 7 p.m.

Email Wendy@Actingnaturally.com to register for your preferred audition date. Prepare a one minute song and bring a recent photo and a current resume. The audition will consist of cold readings from the script.

Boys and girls ages 8 to 18 are also invited to audition for “Frozen Jr.” No experience is required. Auditions take place Saturdays, December 9 and 16, at 2 p.m., and Wednesday, December 13, at 7 p.m. Prepare a one minute song.

Kelsey Theater is holding auditions for “The Further Adventures of Nick Tickle, Fairy Tale Detective,” produced by MPOnStage.

Everyone’s favorite gumshoe is back with another thrilling adventure. Old Granny Possum is entertaining us with her slightly irregular version of “Snow White and Just the Two Very Tall Persons” when she’s kidnapped by Bluebeard and his band of scurvy pirates! Thank goodness Nick Tickle has been hired to get her back. Can he outwit the kidnappers and save her or is she gone for good??

Performances dates are Saturday and Sunday, February 17 and 18, at 1 and 4 p.m.

Auditions take place Saturday and Sunday, December 9 and 10, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Auditions and rehearsals will be held on the campus of Mercer County Community College, West Windsor.

Auditioners will be sent an email with the room number. Check the Kelsey Theatre sign boards on the day of your audition to confirm.

MCCC is located at 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor.

Those auditioning will be given sides when they arrive. Actors #3 – 7 will be performing multiple characters so we need to see a difference between each character.

There will be a read through and at least two rehearsals before the winter break. Exact schedule TBD but expect rehearsals two to three times per week and one weekend day.

The theater actively seeks performers of all races, gender identities, sexual orientations, body types, ages (over 15 years old) and abilities.

Eight actors play 19 roles. The actors can be any gender, but the characters are male, female, or gender neutral.

Actor 3 – Queen Cupcake; Fairy Godmother

Actor 4 – Snow White; Cinderella

Actor 5 – The Magic Mirror; Vinnie – a huntsman; Puss-in-Boots

Actor 6 – Prince Charming; Bluebeard, The Pirate

Actor 7 – “Little Person” 1; Pirate 1; Rumpelstiltskin; Palace Guard 1

Actor 8 – “Little Person” 2; Pirate 2; Mrs. Rumple; Palace Guard 2.

Kelsey is also hosting auditions for “Nunsense,” a musical comedy presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals and produced by the MTM Players.

Performances are scheduled for Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m. from April 19 through May 5.

Auditions will be held Saturday and Sunday, January 6 and 7, from noon to 6 p.m. Callbacks or snow dates will be Monday through Thursday, January 8 through 11, at 7 p.m.

Please be familiar with the show. You can watch a professional version here: https://tinyurl.com/nunmtmsample. Prepare 16 bars of a song not from this production, but in the style of the show — upbeat or gospel depending on the role. Bring clearly marked sheet music with accompaniment along with a resume and photo. Be prepared to move: wear comfortable clothes for the dance call and bring tap shoes or soft shoes (sneakers, etc.)

For those interested in auditioning for Sister Mary Leo, be prepared for ballet moves and to bring appropriate footwear.

Be prepared to read from provided sides which are available at the sign-up site. Be prepared to stay for the entire process which may be 30-60 minutes.

Roles are open to performers of all races, sexual orientations, body types, ages and abilities. We are striving to cast a diverse cast for this production. All roles are non-equity, unpaid.

Roles are:

Sister Mary Regina, Mother superior (Reverend Mother) – A feisty Sophie Tucker-type comfortable with her body who can’t resist the spotlight. Authoritative. [Mezzo, Belt, B3-F5, Adult 40s+]

Sister Mary Hubert, Mistress ofNovices – The second in command who is always competing with the Mother Superior — strong gospel singer. [Soprano, Belt, Gospel G3-F5, Adult Mid 20s+]

Sister Robert Anne – A streetwise tough character from Brooklyn. A constant source of aggravation for the Mother Superior. Must possess strong comedic chops. [Mezzo, Belt, G3-F5, Adult 30s+]

Sister Mary Amnesia – This nun lost her memory after a crucifix fell on her head. She is very sweet. Some opera and ventriloquism a plus. [Soprano, Operatic, Belt C4-C6, Adult Mid 20s+]

Sister Mary Leo – The novice and youngest character who has entered the convent with the firm desire to become the first nun ballerina – Basic ballet dance required for this role. [Soprano, Belt, G#3-G5, Age range late-teens to early 20s].
