Certara, a company that provides services for drug development, has been purchased by EQT, a private equity firm, for $850 million.

Arsenal Capital Partners will retain a minority ownership stake in Certara, with the company’s current management team, led by Edmundo Muniz, continuing to lead the organization.

Certara, founded in 2008, provides model-informed drug development technology and services, as well as regulatory science, writing, and submission management software and services. (U.S. 1, March 25, 2015.) The company serves 1,200 commercial companies, 250 academic institutions, and numerous regulatory agencies across 60 countries and has about 500 employees.

“We are deeply impressed by what the Certara management team has accomplished over the last few years,” said EQT partner Eric Liu.
