John McPhee is an institution at Princeton. Over decades, his seminar has remained one of hottest tickets on campus. Students dream of making the cut for his course and thrive once there. And for good reason. McPhee brings passion and focus to his craft and to his students. That singular devotion doesn’t end once he has filed the final grades. His course is often the beginning of a nurturing relationship that endures throughout a journalist’s career and life. That sort of dedication is inspiring to both students and other faculty.

After all these years, McPhee’s Creative Non-Fiction course remains a cornerstone of Princeton’s storied journalism program.

Stephens, a Washington Post investigative reporter, is a Ferris Professor of Journalism.
