Influencing the ‘Influencers’

In the era of social media, fame often arrives in the form of a repost from a famous person’s Instagram or Twitter account, which can reach millions of people instantly. On a smaller scale, interacting with influential people on social media is a good way to draw attention to yourself or your business on the Internet.

This phenomenon is really nothing more than the age-old word of mouth using modern communication methods, so anyone marketing a business should know how to get noticed online by influential personalities.

Social media consultant Hilary Morris is leading a workshop on working with popular bloggers, Instagram personalities, and local “influencers.” The free class will be held Thursday, November 9, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Princeton Public Library. For more information, visit www.princetonlibrary.org or call 609-924-9529.

Morris (6,568 Twitter followers) is a mother of three who started blogging in 2007 under the handle “Mrs. Mo’s New Jersey.” The blog became so popular that in 2009 she quit her job as a middle school teacher to dedicate herself to it full time. By 2010 she had branched out into other ventures and retired the blog. She has become a social media consultant, a speaker and instructor at various business groups, and the founder of a networking group for small business owners, and writes a girls’ fashion blog (afancygirlmust.com).
